Abu Chocolate Mousse Cups

We wanted a fun and simple dessert to celebrate the release of the new Disney live action Aladdin movie.  We were reading my daughter's favourite cookbook, In the French Kitchen With Kids by Mardi Michels. Honesty this book isn't just for kids.  It has great and easy classic French recipes that are easy to make and delicious for the whole family.  For instance, my kids have never liked chocolate mousse because most recipes taste too much like dark chocolate.  This one they absolutely devoured.

I thought that the little cups of chocolate mousse with the chocolate shavings on top could look a lot like a little monkey.  Then came the idea of adding a fresh raspberry on top for a fez to turn them into tiny Abus.  Easy Peasy!  I used a bunch of small yogurt jars that I like to reuse for just such an occasion, but any small glass would work just as well.  

These make a great small dessert or are perfectly sized for a party.  Most times at home we make them in regular ramekins.  You can check here for an idea of what that looks like and how easy they are to make.  I seriously suggest that you pick up In the French Kitchen with Kids or check out Mardi Michels' food blogEat.Live.Travel.Write.
