Disney Cruise Line Wine Packages-- What you need to know
By Jennifer Stuart
If you like to enjoy wine with your dinner you may want to consider purchasing a Wine Package for your Disney Cruise. Read on for all the info you need to know.

Disney Cruise Line Wine Packages-- What you need to know
 1 "night" = 1 bottle of wine

How many nights should we buy?
You can buy as many or as few "nights" as you want ( i.e. you do not have to buy a 7 night package for a 7 night cruise - you can buy 3, 4, 5 or 7 ) We  recently purchased a 3 night package for a 7 night cruise. It was enough for the two of us to have one or two glasses with dinner (although one night we decided to do mixed drinks with our meal instead).

What if we don't drink a whole bottle at dinner?
You have a few choices.  You can take it back to your room to drink there or they will cork it and store it for you.  You can then drink the rest another night.  Your dining staff will ask if you want to select a new bottle or if you would like to drink from a previously opened bottle. One night I was drinking from a previously opened red and my husband opened a new white to go with his seafood.

What if we want more than one bottle per night?
Go ahead.  You are certainly able to open more than one bottle in an evening. Keep in mind that it uses up a "night" every time you open a bottle and plan accordingly.  Depending on the size of your party and how much wine you like to have with dinner you may want to order more "nights" of wine than the length of your cruise.

What if we don't drink all the bottles that we ordered?
If you have unopened bottles you can carry them off the ship as part of your alcohol allowance (up to 2 bottles).  Remember that if you are passing through customs you will have to declare that you are bringing in alcohol.

Do the wine packages save money?
Wine is priced similarly to restaraunts, which is much more than you would pay if you were to buy the same bottle at a store.  You will definitely save significantly over ordering one bottle at a time.
(Note that a 15% gratuity will be automatically added to the cost of the package).

Couldn't I just bring my own wine on board?
You can carry on up to 2 bottles of wine, or one 6-pack of beer, per adult at every port.  You are free to drink this in your stateroom.  If you would like to drink it with dinner then you would have to pay a $25 corking fee per bottle.
