Breakfast at Sasagoula Floatworks and Food Factory
By Jennifer Stuart
Sassagoula Floatworks is the counter or quick service restaurant at Disney's Port Orleans French Quarter Resort at Disney World.  This review covers the restaurant as a whole and more specifically the breakfast options available at Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory.

Location

Breakfast at Sasagoula Floatworks and Food Factory
Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory is located in the main reception building at Disney's Port Orleans French Quarter Resort.  It is just off the main lobby atrium and is easily accessible from all the buildings in this small resort.  It is certainly also an option to come here from the neighbouring Port Orleans Riverside as well.

Theming

Breakfast at Sasagoula Floatworks and Food Factory
The theming was scaled back substantially during their recent renovations and now I would call the style more modern loft with Mardi Gras accents. Think bright and airy with wood and exposed brick.
Breakfast options at Sassagoula Floatworks fall into two categories - grab and go options,  and  more substantial hot quick service breakfast items.

Grab ad Go breakfasts

For grab and go there is plenty of choice.  There is a range of pastries such as danish, turnovers and cinnamon rolls.  There are also cold cereal, fresh fruit, bagels and yogurt with granola.

You can also get a  wide selection of drinks both in bottles, or to fill your resort refillable mug.

The pastries that we tried were good.  They were fresh and tasted as you would expect.  These are the same as you will find in many places on property.

Quick Service Breakfasts

Hot breakfast options include the usual Mickey pancakes or waffles, plus an assortment of specialty pancakes such as chocolate chip or vanilla bean. You can also get egg based breakfasts like scrambled eggs or omelettes.

Baguette French Toast with sausages
We are French toast fans and this is a really great French toast.  Unusually, but fitting the theme, it is made using a baguette rather than sliced bread.  This results in two enormous bias cut slices of French toast that are then coated in cinnamon and sugar while they are still piping hot.  It comes with sausages on the side (you can also choose bacon or ham) and a berry compote.  We opted to skip the compote as there was plenty of flavours going on with just the cinnamon and sugar.  This was really a meal. Two of us split it and we were full, so well worth the money in terms of portion.  I would get this again in a heartbeat.

Mickey Beignets
Important Note: until recently this was the home of the famous Mickey Beignets.  You can now get them at Scat Cat's Club next door. Highly recommended!

Final Thougts

Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory has all the things that you would expect form a Disney Resort quick service restaurant and it's definitely a notch above some others we have tried. If you are staying at Port Orleans French Quarter be sure to check it out for breakfast and we would even recommend coming over from Port Orleans Riverside if you are looking for a change.
