By Jennifer Stuart There are several dining packages available at Disneyland that will give you access to reserved viewing areas for Fantasmic! This review covers the dining package available at the Blue Bayou restaurant located in the New Orleans Square area of Disneyland. The Blue Bayou restaurant is the restaurant that has seating inside the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. Theming and atmosphereThe Blue Bayou is on many people's Disneyland food bucket list for the location alone. This is the only restaurant located inside a ride (bonus marks for being located inside such an iconic ride). The entrance is on 31 Royal Street , next to the exit for Pirates of the Caribbean. The restaurant, like the ride, is dimly lit. Strings of hanging paper lanterns make it feel like you are sitting in a courtyard. Tables closest to the water are highly coveted and can be difficult to get. If you want a waterside table you can ask, but there is certainly no guarantee. Strategies include showing up 15 mins prior to your reservation time and asking the hostess or reserving one of the first dinning slots. We find all of these hit or miss. If they can accommodate you they will, but be prepared to wait. The foodDinner starts with bread service and includes an appetizer, main course and dessert. There is a slightly more limited menu than on the regular Blue Bayou menu but there is still plenty of options. The reserved viewing areaAt the end of your meal you are given "fastpass style" tickets that allow you into the reserved viewing area. These don't save you a particular spot, so if where you are sitting within that area is important to you, you will want to get there slightly in advance of the time stated on the tickets. Seating inside the section is first come first served. Most people tend to fill up the spots closest to the railings first. This is a seated area, and there are others that are standing areas but there are no chairs, you will be sitting on the ground. Another perk is that you will also receive a souvenir seat cushion for each member of your party. These are made out of foam and are like a garden kneeling pad. They have a handle to make them easier to carry. Insider Tip: ask at any gift shop and they will be happy to give you a big plastic bag so that you can carry several cushions at once. Price of the Package at time of writing was $72 for adults and $29 for children aged 3-9. (Note that children over 9 are considered adults and pay the adult price). This is for a dinner package. Lunch packages are available for slightly less. If you enjoyed this post you may be interested in some of our other Disneyland blog posts. Photos by Jennifer Stuart and Kim Stuart Questions?
