Disneyland goes all out with fun and tasty fall and Halloween treats. See pictures of and read about which items make our must try list.
Welcome to another Disney Friends Blog Hop. Our theme for October is of course Halloween. Once you are done our post on Halloween snacks at Disneyland make sure you hop to our next Disney Friend for more Disney Halloween
Pumpkin Spice Beignets
If you are a fan of the classic Mickey beignets from the Mint Julep bar we highly recommend that you try the Pumpkin Spice Beignets that are available for the Halloweentime season. These are by far our favourite of the specialty and seasonal beignets. Find these at the Mint Julep Bar in New Orleans Square in Disneyland.
Cake and Cupcakes
This was our favourite fall treat. It is a mini spiced bundt cake with a bit of cream cheese icing in the middle and a decorative chocolate bat. It was a nice moist cake that has a great spice taste that matches well with the cream cheese icing.
Find this at the Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe at the end of Main Street in Disneyland. Other great fall cake choices can be found at the Plaza Inn. The Monster Halloween Cake - is sold by the slice and is a chocolate cake layered with multi-coloured chocolate mousse, It is covered in green buttercream with royal icing eyes and sprinkles. This one is definitely a kid-pleaser but big enough to share. One of our other favourites is the Chocolate Coffee Yule Log at Plaza Inn. If you love that coffee and chocolate combination like I do then this could be one of your seasonal favourites too. It is sponge cake wrapped around coffee-flavoured chocolate buttercream. We always love the Plaza Inn Yule Logs and this was a delicious twist on it.
For 2019 one of our favourites is definitely the Haunted Mansion Wedding Cake in honour of the 50th Anniversary of the Haunted Mansion. We love cherries so this flavour combination was a hit with us and the slices are large enough to be shareable. It is a white cake with buttercream frosting, cherries, cream cheese filling, and finished with a splatter of cherry sauce.
Find this at the French Market in New Orleans Square in Disneyland. Shakes
Our favourite seasonal shake this year is the pumpkins spice shake. This was a great light pumpkin spice flavour that was swirled with caramel and topped with whip cream, graham crackers and more caramel. This is really rich and very filling but tastes so good!
Find this at Flo's V8 Cafe in Carsland at Disney California Adventure. Another great seasonal shake is the Minnie Witch Shake it is a mint chocolate chip shake with whipped cream and mini oreo ears. If you like mint and chocolate, this is the shake for you. Find it at Schmoozies on Buena Vista Street. Macarons
We love a good macaron. If you aren't looking for seasonal macaron then we cannot recommend the Raspberry Rose Macaron at Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe enough! Seasonal Macarons abound and the Mickey Mummy Macaron is a returning favourite. It is a regular almond macaron with a cookies and cream buttercream filling. It is very cute but we found this one a little on the sweet side. (the kids loved it) Find it at the Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe in Disneyland. The Spoke-y Cone Macaron is a cone shaped macaron filled with marshmallow buttercream and candy corn. This should have tasted like a sugar overload but the marshmallow buttercream really made this and it was our favourite of the seasonal macarons. Find it at the Cozy Cone Motel in Disney California Adventure.
Caramel Apples
Disneyland's caramel apples are legendary. We love to check out the new designs that change seasonally. Look for lots of spooky specialty apples for Halloweentime. Apples are dipped first in caramel, then white chocolate and decorated.
Find these at The Candy Palace on Main Street and Pooh's Corner in Critter Country in Disneyland. Also at Trolley Treats on Buena Vista Street and Bing Bongs Sweets in Pixar Pier in Disney California Adventure. Outside the parks find them at Marceline's Confectionary in Downtown Disney. Seasonal Drinks
Look for seasonal drinks at many locations in the parks. The blood orange slush with a swirl of raspberry sauce from Galactic Grill in Tomorrowland was refreshing in the unseasonable fall heat. The Green Apple Spell Lemonade was a favourite. This was lemonade with sour green apple syrup, cherry pearls and raspberry sauce. The popping cherry boba really made this drink and added a bit of sweetness to an otherwise tart drink. Find it at Smokejumpers Grill in Disney California Adventure.
Seasonal Snack Merchandise
Popular snack accessories are always the seasonal specialty popcorn buckets. Collectors eagerly await the new designs each season. This year, a new Oogie Boogie bucket and a Mickey Pumpkin bucket are available. A purple cauldron bucket is available to annual passholders. Other seasonal snack accessories include a purple poison apple glow cube and a purple poison apple stein.
