By Jennifer Stuart If you are a Canadian planning a trip to Disneyland for the end of 2019 or in 2020 this news will be music to your ears. Read on to find out about this amazing deal direct from Disney, how much you can save and how it is different than past discounts. Real discounts on tickets to Disneyland are few and far between. Sometimes you can get a small discount by going through a third party retailer, but it is very rare to get a deal on tickets. This is especially true of tickets that are not rolled into some kind of package. The advantage of a separate ticket-only deal is that you can stay at any hotel of your choosing and still save! This is a limited time offer direct from Disney for tickets of 3, 4 or 5 days. Tickets must be purchased in advance —this deal is not available at the gates. Tickets must be purchased before February 16, 2020. Order your tickets online, by phone or through your favourite travel agent. Tickets can either be will-call (pick up at ticket booths with booking number) or you can add it to your Disneyland app with the confirmation code. All tickets must be used before December 31, 2020. This ticket offer includes one Magic Morning entry to Disneyland. (Read our post on Magic Morning and Extra Magic Hour at Disneyland). The chart above shows the pricing on tickets for an adult one park per day ticket in in US dollars. (Remember that Disneyland considers those 10 and older as adults for the purposes of ticket pricing). Savings work out to approximately 20% off regular ticket prices! That savings will almost offset the exchange rate which is listed as 31% today. You do pay more for the ability to parkhop (visit both parks in the same day) Adult prices are $284 USD for a 3 day Park-hopper, $304 USD for a 4 day Park-hopper and $316 USD for a 5 day Park-hopper with the Canadian Resident Discount. Child prices are $268 USD for a 3 day Park-hopper, $288 USD for a 4 day Park-hopper and $300 USD for a 5 day Park-hopper with the Canadian Resident Discount. Base tickets (single park entry not Park-hopper) are also available for both adults and children and would be cheaper than Park-hopper tickets. (They start at $240 USD for a 3 day 1 park adult ticket). Anyone who regularly prices out Disneyland tickets knows that after 3 days it is relatively inexpensive to add the 4th or 5th day. With these discounted tickets it is only $32 USD difference to add 2 more days in the park. How does this price out for you? If you had a family of 4 with 2 children under the age of 10, you would be looking at paying $1,104 USD for 3 day Park-hopper tickets for the family. Regular pricing on this would be $1, 380 USD. That is a savings of $276 USD. If you are like our family and choosing our preferred ticket, which is a 5 day Park-hopper, then you would be paying $1,232 USD - a savings of $308 USD off of the regular price. At current exchange rates that is a savings of over $400 in Canadian Dollars!!! That difference pays for a couple more hotel nights or a whole lot of Dole Whips and Mickey ears! You can also choose to add Maxpass (the new digital fastpass) for $15/day for each ticket at either the time of ordering or day by day in the park. If you are new to Maxpass you can read our Step-by Step Maxpass Guide. If you are looking for more information about Fastpass at Disneyland our post on Disneyland Fastpass for Beginners is a good introduction or refresher. Remember that you will need to show Canadian ID at the turnstile the first time you use your Canadian Resident Discount Ticket. We used our drivers licences but you could also use a passport.
How is this offer different from past years? This offer has been made available for Canadian visitors in the fall for the past 3 years (when there was a noticeable decline in Canadian visitors due to the exchange rate). Previously, the tickets purchased in the fall were valid until Dec 31 of the following year. Last year this was changed to restrict the tickets to prior to the Star Wars Galaxy Edge opening. Tickets are once again valid for use until Dec 31. Photos by Jennifer Stuart and Kim Stuart Comments? Questions? We would love to hear from you.
