If you are wondering how to host a Disney Plus watch party for your family and friends, here is your step by step guide to show you how to set it up. Group watch is a new feature that is being rolled out in various countries on Disney Plus this fall. We will show you how it works and what you need to know to enjoy all the Disney fun together.
First - make sure that you all have a Disney Plus account and that you have installed all the updates (fun fact: that was where we ran into trouble on our first time as my mom hadn't updated the app on her iPad).
If you are the host, log into your Disney Plus account and find the movie or program that you want to watch. Look for the group watch symbol and click it. This will open up a new screen.
On the new screen you can see the plus button to invite friends and family to join you. When you click on it you have different options of how you would like to send a link. If you are on mobile you can send it via most of your messaging apps and if you are accessing through a browser (on your laptop then you will have the option to copy the link - which you can then send via email.
,Once they click on the link and log into their Disney Plus account you will see them pop up on your screen. After everyone has joined, click the "Start Stream" Button to begin your program, and there you go -- all watching at the same time.
If you are watching a show rather than a movie, you can watch multiple episodes but it isn't automatic. The host will have to start the next episode. You can do this by clicking the play next episode button. When you are done you can leave the group watch by clicking on the leave button (on mobile swipe up from the bottom).
Other important information about Disney Plus Group Watch:
- you can have up to 7 profiles (including the host) watching at one time.
- max 4 profiles on the same account at one time
- kids profiles are not able to join group watch
- unfortunately you can't do a group watch with friends and family in other countries
- Look for group watch to be available in Europe later this fall
