Tritons is one of the three main rotational doing rooms on the Disney Wonder. It is located on Deck 3 midship and can be accessed from two entrances, including from the main atrium. Read on for detailed information, menus, our thoughts and lots of pictures of food items.
Atmosphere and Theming
This restaurant is named after Ariel's father, King Triton, in the Little Mermaid and you will see Little Mermaid touches throughout the dining room. This includes a spectacular mosaic that was made in Italy (where the Wonder was built).
Triton's is definitely the most elegant feeling of the three main dining rooms. The lighting is dimmed and filtered through the curtains and stained glass. It feels more formal and doesn't have as much obvious theming as Tiana's Place or Animator's Palate.
The Food
The food at Triton's leans towards a French or European inspired menu. There are lots of crowd pleasers and a few more adventurous choices for those who like to branch out.
Appetizers
Honestly, we didn't get that many appetizers to review for you. This wasn't because there weren't good options - there were plenty of great options, including seafood, soups, and salads - we just found that we wanted to save room for more dessert. One surprisingly fun option is the escargot. If you have always wanted to try it, now is the time. We started off by ordering one to share for the table. It turned out to be our son's favourite of the trip!
Mains
The mains were universally good choices. I like my meat medium-well and it was all cooked to my liking. My dad who likes his meat rare was similarly happy, which is impressive given the large number of meals being served at one time. One highlight was definitely the lobster night. It was a formal night and something to look forward to on longer cruises.
Desserts
We think across the board that desserts are an area that Disney Cruise Lines particularly excel in. We highly recommend that you make sure to leave room for dessert with every meal (you are on vacation after all). Standouts are definitely the crème brûlée and the soufflé, but honestly we didn't have a bad dessert. Can't decide between two choices, you can order them both!
Menus
On our seven day cruise we ate three nights at Tritons, this included one night that was the Frozen themed menu for the "Freezing the Night Away" celebration. For each dinner, both sides of the menu and then both sides of the dessert menu are shown. All three kids menus are shown below.
You can read our post on Freezing the Night Away the Frozen Night for more information about this special night on the Disney Wonder's Alaska itineraries
Our Thoughts
Triton's is a great main dining room, in fact it is my personal favourite of the three dining rooms on the Disney Wonder. My husband disagrees and prefers Tiana's Place. You can also read our review of Tiana's Place to find out why he loves it and of course all the food pictures we can fit in one blog.
