Disney Cruise Line Castaway Club Explained

Curious about Disney Cruise Line's Castaway Club?  We have all the information and details for you.

What is Castaway Club?

Disney Cruise Line Castaway Club Explained
Castaway Club is the Disney Cruise Line frequent cruiser or loyalty program.   When you register for your first Disney Cruise all members of your party (including children) are given a Castaway Club number.  This keeps your information on file and makes re-booking for your next cruise easier.

How do you get to be a Castaway Club member?

As soon as you have completed your first cruise you are a Castaway Club member.   The Castaway Club levels are attached to each member of your party separately. So theoretically you could have different levels of Castaway Club members staying together in the same stateroom.  For example: my mom hasn't cruised as often with Disney so she is lower than us.

What are the Castaway Club Levels?

There are currently 3 levels of Castaway Club
Silver - after your first cruise
Gold - after your fifth cruise
Platinum - after your tenth cruise

What are the perks?

Soon after returning home from our first cruise,  we received a welcome to the Castaway Club letter that included a great Castaway Club magnet.   When going to book your second cruise you will immediately notice a difference based on your new Castaway status. Keep in mind the perks are better every tier that you climb.

1- When new cruise itineraries are released Castaway Club members are able to book before members of the general public (this is usually an advantage in terms of savings and getting the cabin that you want).
2- When you go to book experiences for your cruise Castaway Club members are able to book in advance of other cruisers.  This means earlier access to book shore excursions, dinners at Palo and Remy, spa and other on board ticketed events such as mixology or the Princess Gathering.
3- Earlier access to select your port arrival times for gold and platinum members.
4- Dedicated check-in.  There is a separate check-in line for Castaway Club members as opposed to first time cruisers.  In practice this meant at Port Canaveral we walked in and straight up to a cast member to complete our check-in.  At this time you also receive a Castaway Club lanyard that shows your Castaway Club level (Silver, Gold or Black for Platinum).  Your Castaway Club status is also marked on your Key to the World Card (see our post on How to Read Your Disney Cruise Line Key to the World Card post for more information).
5-  Welcome back gift.  When you enter your stateroom you will find that your stateroom host has left a welcome back present for you on your bed (one per stateroom). Currently it is a Disney Cruise Line branded sling bag.  This makes a great bag for shore excursions or theme park days. In the past they have given out beach totes, but we personally prefer the sling bags.
6- Gold and Platinum members are invited to an exclusive Onboard reception.
7-Platinum members receive a complimentary dinner at Palo and an express check-in experience.
