Cabanas Buffet on the Disney Dream is the buffet service restaurant located on Deck Deck 11 at the rear of the ship. Cabanas serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. This post focuses on the food served at the lunch time buffets.
Seating
Seating at Cabanas is broken into several smaller areas around the rear of the ship giving great views through the large windows. Most seating is at tables with some seating on bar stool height chairs at counters.
There is also an outdoor seating area at the rear of the ship that is somewhat sheltered form the wind.
Hot Items
Hot food items vary daily and seem to follow general themes such as "Italian". Aside from the hot food that changes daily, there are some hot items that are always on offer, these include roast meats (ham, beef, chicken) and popular items such as chicken tenders, pasta, mac and cheese and fries.
Pizza is another one of the items that is consistently available for lunch. Many other kid friendly items such as macaroni and cheese, chicken fingers and fries are all available daily even though other items may change.
You will also usually find several fish and seafood choices. Additionally there is a soup station with 2 different soups daily.
Cold Items
The cold seafood section is always a popular stop with both Crab claws and crab legs on offer. There is a cold cuts and cheeses section and other sections can vary. Our kids were particularly excited when they found sushi plates one day.
Other cold items include pre-made sandwiches and wraps, cold meats and cheeses and salad bar.
Desserts
We find the desserts on Disney Cruise Line to be a real stand out. Everything we have had has been good with several of them being excellent. We also appreciate the attention to detail and plating. A great example of this is the Chocolate cake roll with the Mickey Mouse chocolate garnish. (pictured above)
